A wealthy woman from Shunem served God by serving Elisha. Her level of service went beyond simply providing a meal. She went so far as to build an addition on to her house just to provide Elisha another place to stay. Why did she do this? Because she recognized that Elisha was a servant of the Lord. This was not out of reverence for just Elisha and his ministry, but reverence and service to God.
God does not allow this kindness and service to go unrewarded. God never does. We may not always see immediate reward for our service or giving, but know that God always sees, and God will always honor it. Ecclesiastes 12:14, “For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
Do you give to God? Do you serve God? Willingly? Selflessly? Abundantly? A heart that overflows in giving to God will never be empty.
God is able to bless in ways you never expect. This woman thought it impossible to have a son. God is God of the impossible. He is the giver of all good gifts.
James 1:17, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
This is Who our God is. A God that we can never outgive. A God who never changes. A God who delights to give us good gifts.
Are we serving Him? We must serve Him by serving others.
